Part-time custodian at the mexico Area Family YMCA
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Housekeeper, the Part-Time Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff. This role supports daily operations through routine cleaning, light maintenance, and facility readiness.
Perfect part-time side job with consistent, predictable hours!
Compensation & Schedule
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Every other weekend (8 hours) required
** Some hours per week available in evening shifts**
Essential Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all assigned areas including locker rooms, restrooms, fitness areas, offices, and common spaces
- Perform routine cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal
- Restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
- Identify and report maintenance or repair needs promptly
- Operate cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, vacuums, etc.) safely
- Assist with set up and tear down rooms for programs, rentals, and events
- Move tables, chairs, and equipment as needed
- Maintain a safe environment by addressing hazards immediately
- Support overall YMCA mission and community atmosphere
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
- Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform physical tasks
