The swim team is open to youth 6 to 18 years of age. Interested participants that were not members of
the team in the previous season are required to try out for the team. The try out includes demonstrating
the ability to perform the freestyle stroke (crawl), backstroke, and breaststroke. To try out for the team
register at our website and you will be contacted to set up a time for the try out.
You can also register at the front desk of the Mexico YMCA.
The swim team is divided into two separate seasons, Fall/Winter which runs September through March
and Spring/Summer which runs May through mid-July. You may participate in both seasons or only one
of the seasons. The Fall/Winter season is the official YMCA season and requires that all participants be
members of the Mexico Area Family YMCA. The Spring/Summer season does not require YMCA
membership but does have a higher registration fee for non-members.
For more information on the team check out the team webpage:
Mini Marlins Swim School: For children (ages 5 to 8) that don't meet the qualifications for the competitive swim team. This level is designed to prepare swimmers for the competitive team. It is available in both the Summer and Winter seasons.
The team is divided into three levels based on a set pace. The levels are: Bronze (beginner), Silver (intermediate), and Gold (advanced).
Swim team encourages self-discipline, perfects competitive strokes, builds positive self-esteem and also builds friendships.
There are two seasons: Winter (September-March) and Summer (May-Middle of July). Winter season requires participants to also be members of the YMCA. Summer season Y membership is not required.
